Getting Started with Your Template
What is a Data Studio template?
A Data Studio template is a professionally designed report that you copy directly to your own Google account. Once copied, you connect it to your own data sources and the report fills with your data automatically — no building from scratch.
All Data Studio Guru templates live in Google Data Studio, which is free to use. You need a Google account to get started.
What you need before you start
- A Google account (personal or Workspace)
- Access to the relevant data source (e.g. Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console). Check the template product page for the required data sources.
- The template link from your purchase confirmation email
Step 1 — Open the template link
Click the template link in your purchase email. This opens the template in Data Studio in view-only mode.
Step 2 — Make a copy
In the top-right corner, click the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Make a copy.
A dialog will appear asking you to confirm the data sources. At this stage, you can leave the default data sources as-is and change them after copying — this preserves all custom calculated fields.
Click Copy report.
Step 3 — Connect your data
After copying, Data Studio will switch to edit mode. Open the Resource menu → Manage added data sources, then edit each data source and replace the sample source with your own.
For most templates this means selecting your own Google Analytics 4 property or Search Console site.
Step 4 — View your report
Click View in the top-right to switch to view mode. Your data should now appear in the charts.
If any charts show errors, see the Troubleshooting guide.
