Customising Your Template
Overview
All Data Studio Guru templates are built entirely in Data Studio, which means every element — colours, fonts, layout, logo — can be customised without any extra tools. This guide covers the most common customisations.
To edit the report, open it in Data Studio and click Edit in the top-right corner.
Changing colours
Updating a single chart
- Click the chart to select it
- In the Style panel on the right, find the colour settings for that element
- Click any colour swatch to open the colour picker
Updating your brand colour across the whole report
For a consistent look, update the theme colours rather than changing charts individually:
- Go to Theme and layout (in the toolbar or View menu)
- Under Customise, update the primary colour to your brand colour
- Apply to all pages
Changing fonts
- Open Theme and layout
- Under Customise, select your preferred font family
- You can set separate fonts for headings and body text
Google Fonts are available by default. If your brand font is not in the list, you can add it via the font picker.
Adding your logo
- Click an empty area of the report canvas
- From the toolbar, select Insert → Image
- Upload your logo file or paste a URL
- Position and resize as needed
To replace the existing Data Studio Guru logo placeholder:
- Click the existing image to select it
- In the Setup panel on the right, click Change image
- Upload your logo
Sharing the report
Share with your team
- Click the Share button in the top-right
- Add people by email address and set their access level (Viewer or Editor)
- Click Send
Team members receive an email with a link to the report. They do not need to purchase the template separately — sharing with your own team is included in your license.
Share with a client (view-only link)
- Click the Share button → Manage access
- Under "General access", change to Anyone with the link and set to Viewer
- Copy the link and send it to your client
Clients can view and interact with the filters but cannot edit the report.
Scheduled email delivery
Data Studio lets you schedule automatic email deliveries of the report as a PDF:
- Click the Share button → Schedule email delivery
- Set the recipients, frequency, and preferred time
- Click Save
Renaming the report
Click the report title at the top of the page (it defaults to "Copy of [Template Name]") and type your preferred name.
Editing and adding pages
- To reorder pages, drag the page tabs at the bottom
- To add a new page, click the + icon next to the page tabs
- To hide a page from viewers, right-click the tab and select Hide page
Tips
- Use Ctrl+Z (or ⌘Z on Mac) to undo any change
- Click View to preview how the report looks to viewers
- Use Ctrl+D to duplicate a chart and maintain consistent formatting
